DOOR LOWERING CURTAIN

TendaTap

The TAP curtain is an accessory for windows and doors needed for the intake of fresh air in a Natural Smoke and Heat Exhaust System (NSHES).

Designed by Basso Luce e Aria, it consists of a special heat-resistant curtain that reduces the opening height of the doors.

What is it for?

According to the UNI 9494-1 standard, once a smoke-free height with the customer has been decided, it is necessary that the openings for the inflow of fresh air are at least one metre below this height.

However, the openings (especially heavy duty doors) are higher that the requested height and this would involve two possible solutions:

WITHOUT TAP CURTAINS

Increase in smoke-free height by at least one metre above the upper edge of the doors, resulting in an increase in the useful exhaust system surface area, or the installation of larger, or several, exhaust systems (higher cost for the customer).

  • Greater number of exhaust systems
  • Smaller smoke tank
  • Higher costs

WITH TAP CURTAINS

Reduction of the opening height for the flow of fresh air and system consistent with the customer’s requirements. It is clear that the TAP curtains allow to achieve the customer’s objectives while containing the costs of the system by using the existing openings of any height.

  • Correct number of exhaust systems
  • Smoke-free layer as requested by the customer
  • Lower costs

TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE

  1. Maximum operating temperature: 450°C: 450 °C
  2. Fire classification (Italian Ministerial Decree of 20/06/84): class 1
  3. Halogen acid content in smoke (CEI 20-37 part 1): zero
  4. Smoke toxicity index (CEI 20-37 part 2): <2
  5. Optical density of smoke (ASTM E-662): after 4 mins = zero; after 20 mins = 2
  6. Colour: black
  7. Flexural rigidity (ASTM D 1388): bending length ≤ 15 mm; flexural rigidity ≤ 2.1 kg
  8. Tensile strength (UNI 8639) (warp/weft): 600/1000 N
  9. Elongation at break (UNI 8639) (warp/weft): ≤ 16 / 30 %
  10. Tongue tear strength (ASTM D 2262) (warp/weft): ≥ 60 / 50 N
  11. Puncture resistance (UNI 5421): > 500 N > 500 N
  12. Residual tensile strength after 24 hours at 300°C: 70%

TAP curtains for reducing the height of the fresh air intake openings are designed to ensure their correct operation beyond the breaking point or melting point of the other windows that would be the first to change the proper functioning of the NSHES.
